Terms of Service

Last updated August 16, 2026

Draft notice. These terms describe how Homestead actually works, written by the people who built it. They have not yet been reviewed by a lawyer, and will be replaced with a counsel-reviewed version before Homestead leaves early access.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of Homestead, meaning the coach dashboard and the companion client mobile app (together, the “Service”), operated by Homestead (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What Homestead is

Homestead is a software platform that lets independent coaches run their coaching business: training programs, nutrition plans, check-ins, messaging, health-data review, and client enrollment. It also lets their clients use a companion mobile app to receive that coaching, log data, and stay in touch with their coach.

Homestead is the platform. Coaches provide the coaching. We build and operate the software; your coach designs your training, nutrition, and check-in programming, and is responsible for the coaching advice and guidance they give you. Homestead does not review, approve, or guarantee any individual coach’s programming or advice.

2. Not medical advice, and not a medical device

Homestead and everything delivered through it, including training plans, nutrition targets, check-in questions, and health screens, exist for general fitness and coaching purposes. Nothing on Homestead is medical advice. No part of the Service is a medical device, and no part of it is intended to assess, screen, diagnose, treat, cure, prevent or monitor any disease or condition.

Homestead records the readings you or your devices put into it and displays them back. Where a reading appears beside a reference range, that range is published reference information shown for context, not an interpretation of your health, and not a result. A coach reviewing your numbers is coaching you, not examining you. How that data is collected and controlled is set out in our Privacy Policy.

Consult a physician before beginning any exercise or nutrition program, and before answering “yes” to any question on a PAR-Q+ or similar readiness questionnaire. That questionnaire exists to flag situations where medical clearance is advisable. Stop any activity and seek medical attention if you experience pain, dizziness, chest discomfort, or other warning signs.

3. Accounts and the coach-client relationship

Clients join Homestead by invitation from a coach, or by applying through a coach’s public enrollment page and being approved. Sign-in uses a one-time passcode sent to your email, so there are no passwords to manage.

Each client’s data is visible only to the coach who owns their account. If that relationship ends, whether you switch coaches or your coach removes you from their roster, talk to your coach or contact us about your data. Account deletion is available in the app at any time.

4. Signed documents

Some coaches require clients to sign a liability waiver, a PAR-Q+ questionnaire, or other documents before using core features. These are legally significant, so read them carefully and answer truthfully. If a coach updates a document you have already signed, you will be asked to review and re-sign the new version before continuing.

5. User conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harass, abuse, or harm another person.
  • Upload photos or messages containing content our moderation systems and these Terms prohibit, including explicit, violent, or illegal material.
  • Attempt to access another coach’s clients, or another client’s data, without authorization.
  • Interfere with or attempt to disrupt the Service, including by circumventing rate limits, authentication, or access controls.
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with a coach or client.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

6. Content ownership

Clients own their own data. Your health data, check-in answers, logs, messages, and photos belong to you. You grant your coach and Homestead the limited right to store and display that data as needed to provide the Service, for example so your coach can review your check-in history.

Coaches own their programming. Training plans, nutrition plans, check-in forms, exercise notes, and other content a coach authors belong to that coach. Clients may use programming assigned to them for their own personal training; it is not licensed for resale or redistribution.

7. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. Account deletion is available in the app and permanently removes your account and associated data as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate an account that violates these Terms, or discontinue the Service, with notice where practicable.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is”. Homestead is a software platform, not a medical or coaching provider, and we make no guarantee about the accuracy of health data synced from third-party sources such as Apple Health and Health Connect, about readings entered by hand, or about the outcomes of any coach’s programming.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Homestead is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service, or from any coaching advice, training program, or nutrition guidance provided by a coach through the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

9. Text messages

Sign-in codes are sent by email. Homestead does not send sign-in codes by text message. If a code does not reach your inbox, check spam or request another.

Homestead does not currently send text messages. If you opted in to coach reminders by text while that option existed, no such messages are being sent; you can withdraw that consent at any time by replying STOP to any message you may receive or by emailing hello@homestead.coach. If text-message features return, we will ask for your consent in the app first, and standard message and data rates may apply.

10. Changes to these Terms

If we make material changes we will update the date at the top and, where it matters, tell you in the app. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
